ABOUT
Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio.
I characterize my work as a compassionate exploration of human nature in times of struggle. My passion to create positive change and awareness fiercely guides my editorial judgment as I focus on capturing intimate human moments in a raw and unfiltered way.
Whilst I'm motivated by injustice, it is the courage and strength I observe in recovering communities that compels me to turn my lens on stories that are more heavily focused on empowerment and growth.
I consider myself a human rights activist who employs writing and photography as a platform for creating social awareness. I work exclusively with NGO’s to develop content from a fully immersed perspective. This approach requires me to be patient and open to experiences outside of my control. I produce stories that are often used in large-scale fundraising campaigns and reports that evidence community growth and the NGO’s effectiveness at engaging a specific problem.
Outside of humanitarian development, I have been lucky enough to freelance for a variety of news, travel and lifestyle publications. My work as a foreign correspondent allowed me to tackle cross-cultural issues of significance for the Middle East, and I’ve also reported on mental health, urban conflict, protests, humanitarian crisis, politics, food, travel, art, and entertainment.
Moving forward, I hope that my work can influence and inform policy makers, corporations, and citizens about the impact of their decisions, and the reality of opportunity on our planet.
Kind Regards, Josh
